January 1, 2020 by Paul Dileanis

Trip Report: Alabama Hills Landscape and Night Photography Workshop April 28 to May 1, 2019

The Milky Way spans the night sky above the Mobius Arch as the moon rises.

April in the Alabama Hills is a great time to visit. Nights are starting to warm up and the Arch of the Milky Way can be seen low on the horizon. the Eastern scarp of the Sierra Nevada mountains are resplendent with a covering of snow and make a dramatic backdrop for the rock formations of the Alabama Hills.

The focus of this workshop was on night photography, but we did make it out for some sunrises and sunsets.

During this trip we were treated with a phenomena known as anti-crepuscular rays. These rays are the rays from the setting or rising sun re-converging opposite the sun.
