2026 Alabama Hills Photography Workshops

Landscape and Night Photography
April 15-19, 2026
The Alabama Hills have long been a favorite of Photographers and the Motion Picture industry. Hundreds of movies and TV shows, beginning in the 1920s, have been filmed in and around the Alabama Hills.
During this workshop we will be photographing some of the iconic Alabama Hills locations both day and night. We will also have time to explore new photographic opportunities with the goal of creating images that express your own unique vision.
Workshop Fee $1095/Early Registration $975
Early Registration Ends March 4, 2026
In the April workshop the emphasis will be on learning techniques for landscape photography including the use of neutral density filters, high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, creating panoramic images and processing techniques. One-on-one mentoring along with image critiques will help you develop composition skills as well as gain confidence and insight into the creative process. If conditions allow we will venture out into the night to try our hand at capturing the Milky Way and Star Trail images.

Milky Way, Star Trails and Perseid Meteor Shower August 9 -13, 2026
2026 promises to be a great year for photographing the Perseid Meteor showers as the peak occurs during the workshop on August 11.
The dark skies of the Alabama Hills located near Lone Pine California provide the perfect venue to photograph the Night Sky. This workshop is scheduled during the new moon when the sky will be filled with brilliant stars.
Workshop Fee $1195/Early Registration $1050
Early Registration Ends June 25, 2026
Included in the August workshop are three nights of photography. In August the days are hot and the evenings warm. We will begin most days shooting at sunset and will be out late photographing the night sky. One sunrise session will be scheduled during the workshop. Other mornings we will sleep in and enjoy the air conditioned rooms at the hotel for classroom instruction, one on one mentoring and critique sessions. Learn how to process Milky Way images and star trails for spectacular nighttime photography.
More information about the Alabama Hills Workshops below
“Nestled beneath the dramatic eastern scarp of the Sierra Nevada the Alabama Hills are a wonderland of granite boulders and arches that provide a feast for the aspiring photographers lens. This rich landscape of sculpted rock creates a spectacular foreground for towering Lone Pine Peak and Mt. Whitney. In this other worldly landscape many unique photographs can be teased out of the countless variety of whimsical shapes and figures created by the weathered rock.” Paul Dileanis, Instructor
